Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Muiz Banire as chairman of the Governing Board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), according to The Will reports.

The report says Banire is a senior advocate of nigeria (SAN) and former legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to The Will, President Buhari also appointed the chairman and 12 commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission.

The report says this was conveyed in a letter by the President read by Senate President Bukola Saraki at the plenary on Tuesday in which President Buhari sought the approval of the legislators on the appointments.

AMCON was established on the 19th July 2010, when the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signed the AMCON Act into Law.

AMCON was created to be a key stabilising and re-vitalizing tool aimed at reviving the financial system by efficiently resolving the non-performing loan assets of the banks in the Nigerian economy.
