Nigerian Equities Market Index Closes Flat, Remains above 28,000 Points

The domestic bourse index remained flat at 28,344.04 points despite the Exchange printing 13 gainers as against 12 losers at the close of trading session. Hence, the year to date gain of the NSE ASI was unchanged at 5.5%. Specifically, we saw Counters such as WAPCO, UBA and DANGSUGAR advanced by 4.03%, 0.76% and 0.37% respectively amid investor’s positive mood.

Of the five indices tracked, two closed in green while others moved in mixed directions. The NSE Consumer Goods and NSE Industrial indices rose by 0.40% and 0.30% respectively while the NSE Banking and the NSE Insurance fell by 0.76% and 0.45% respectively. The NSE Oil/Gas index closed flat. Meanwhile, the total volume and value of stocks traded rose by 56.66% and 60.55% to 0.34billion unit and N5.0billion respectively.
