MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Inch Down -0.25%, Dragged by Banking, Industrial Counters

Market movers: COURTVILLE (-8.70%) LIVESTOCK (-5.88%), JAIZBANK (+10.00%) and JAPAULGOLD (+8.16%).

Sector Performances: Banking (-2.11%),  Industrial (-0.01%), Consumer Goods (+0.33%) and Oil and Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value gained 70% and 77% compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 121million units of shares worth  N1billion.  ACCESS(-0.62%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 19million units of shares accounting for about 15% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close down today if the losses in the Banking and Industrial sectors persist.
